10 Week Dental Assisting

10 Week Dental Assistant Training Program
Course Title: Dental Assistant Training Program
Course Duration: 10 Weeks - Maximum 10 students
Our program is a total of 140 hours:
30 Class hours 50 Lab hours
60 Internship hours

Course Objective: The objective of this program is to provide comprehensive education and training for individuals seeking to become dental assistants in the state of Florida. This program, designed for entry-level positions in the dental field where they can further utilize their training upon graduation, focuses on the dental assisting skills and procedures used on a daily basis while working in the dental field. Competency in each subject area is assessed through clinical and written examinations. Participants must obtain a score of at least 75%.
Additionally, the program aims to certify dental assistants in radiographic procedures and expanded functions procedures as prescribed by the Florida Board of Dentistry.
Admissions/Prerequisites:
• Verification of a high school diploma or GED is required prior to attending.
• High school students may attend the program with parent or guardian permission and a copy of current high school transcripts.
After completing the 10-week program, the student must complete 60 hours of on-the-job training under the supervision of a Florida licensed dentist to receive their Florida Certifications. The training can be completed either through an internship or as a paid position.
Once the program is completed, and the student receives formal training by a Florida licensed dentist, the student will receive the X-RAY and EFDA State of Florida Certifications.
Expanded Functions Certification - 1 Day
Course Title: Dental Assistant and Radiology Certification
Course Duration: 1 day- Maximum 10 students

Course Objective: EFDA/XRAY Combo Certification:
Upon completion of the EFDA/XRAY combo class, students will be proficient in expanded duties and radiographic functions within a clinical setting. The course, utilizing a blended format comprising study modules, quizzes, and a clinical segment conducted at our facility, aims to equip participants with the necessary skills. Successful completion, marked by passing exams with a grade of 75% or higher, submission of employment verification, and the demonstration of radiographic and expanded function skills in our clinical setting, will result in the issuance of a certification.
XRAY Program Objective:
The XRAY program strives to certify dental assistants in radiographic procedures as outlined by the Florida Board of Dentistry. Encompassing equipment identification, radiography practice, radiation biology, units of measure, types of exposure, radiographic anatomy, radiographic film, radiographic techniques, doses, tissue sensitivity, X-ray protection, radiographic development, radiographic processing, supplemental technique, and infection control, the program ensures comprehensive knowledge and proficiency in these areas.
EFDA Program Objective:
Designed to certify dental assistants in expanded functions procedures as prescribed by the Florida Board of Dentistry, the EFDA program covers a range of expanded functions. These include alginate impressions, retraction cord usage, temporary restorations, suture removal, fluorides, topical
anesthetic administration, sealants, polishing, matrices usage, dental dams, charting, and temporary crown & bridge fabrication. Successful completion of the program signifies competence in these expanded functions.
Admissions/Prerequisites:
Participants in the XRAY/EFDA combo class are required to have undergone formal training by a licensed dentist for a minimum duration of three months. The dentist is obligated to complete a form detailing the entirety of the training and provide their signature for acceptance.
